A customer in the vending machine industry needed a company with the technical ability and facilities to handle the high-volume processing of their brass valve seat plunger as highlighted here. Precise Lapping & Grinding Corp. (PLG) was chosen to complete the required work, which encompassed the precision lapping of the part.

PLG engineered and developed the custom tooling and fixtures required to effectively process the plunger. Utilizing our Speedfam lapping machine, the 1.50" long by 0.50" diameter plunger was lapped, achieving the demanding constraints for flatness to within 0.0001" tolerance levels.

Flatness checks were implemented throughout production to ensure accuracy.

Turnaround time for this project was 7 days, and we ship 1,000,000 units annually to the customer in the Mid-West. Initial customer concerns regarding pricing were overcome, with this project, which met their stipulations for cost, quality, volume, and delivery.
