With our 17,000 sq. ft. facility located near O'Hare airport, we are conveniently located to serve the auto, medical, aerospace, food processing, communications, defense, and stamping house industries.
Our Capabilities
PLG’s capabilities include the ability to produce surface finishes down to 2 RMS on a variety of metals, plastics, ceramics, and other composite materials.
With size capacities from 0.125” to 25” in diameter, lapping and grinding processes can be tailored to fit any application. General dimensional tolerances as tight as ±0.0001" can be held with flatness tolerances reaching down to 5 millionths of an inch. Tight tolerances and premium surface finishes are critical to the performance of our customers' products which range from mechanical seals to fiber optic components.
Our Technology
Advanced measuring technology including CMM with SPC capability, helium light bend and vacuum measuring equipment ensure that finished products meet all customer specifications. Because many products we finish have special handling requirements, ultrasonic cleaning and special packaging services are offered as value added options to better serve our customers.
Lead times are evaluated on a job-by-job basis and rush services are available as needed.

Grinding is a machining operation where a material is removed utilizing a mechanized abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, etc. to realize fine finish tolerances and surface finishes.
Lapping is a machining process in which two surfaces are rubbed together with an abrasive between them, by hand movement or using a machine.
Double-disc grinding is an effective grinding method that employs abrasive wheels that grind and remove equal amounts of stock from both sides of a blank.
Deburring is a material modification method that takes sharp edges, or burrs from a material and leaves the material with smooth edges.
Ultrasonic cleaning is a conventional method for high-quality cleaning, utilizing ultrasonic energy to scrub the parts and a liquid solvent to rinse away the residue and loosened particulate matter.
