In the project outlined here Precise Lapping & Grinding Corp. (PLG) was hired to perform the precision grinding of an automotive transmission cup, used in a continuous variable speed transmission clutch. Our experts worked closely with the customer to develop the proprietary tooling and processes to achieve the desired quality and delivery conditions at their optimal price point.

A through feed grinding method was determined to be the best technique for the 1.50" high by 6.00" OD part, and the hot rolled steel cup was abraded in our on single sided grinder until meeting the customer specified finish. Tight tolerance of 0.001" was held throughout.

Quality is maintained with gage inspections, featuring go/no go functionality.
